|
The mission of the South Suburban Housing Center (SSHC) is the promotion and fostering of long-term diversity throughout all communities in its service area (see next paragraph) by working to eliminate all forms of discrimination and exploitation in the housing market including predatory mortgage lending. Initially organized in April of 1975 by local chapters of the League of Women Voters, we work closely with the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA), the South/Southwest Association of Realtors, the Chicago Area Fair Housing Alliance (CAFHA), the Committee of Realtors and Communities (CORAC) and Diversity, Inc.
The primary service area of the South Suburban Housing Center is the 52
municipalities composing Chicago's South and Southwestern suburbs in
Cook County and Northern Will County. Our enforcement program
extends to include an additional 40 municipalities throughout Will and
Kankakee Counties. We invite you to contact us with any and all
questions you may have. Please note our numerous channels of
communication at the bottom of this page. |
